No reservation or ticket purchase is required to visit Langcuo Lake, as it is conveniently located next to a national highway and can be visited freely as a stopover. The lake area sits at an altitude of approximately 4,300 meters, so precautions against altitude sickness should be taken in advance by preparing oxygen bottles, altitude medication, and warm clothing. Winds are strong by the lake, so windproof and sun protection measures are recommended. Do not drive randomly onto grasslands or off the roadbed, as this harms the fragile ecological environment. Respect local customs by refraining from washing items in the lake or discarding waste. Due to the remote location, it is advisable to travel with companions and ensure your vehicle is in good condition, exercising caution on gravel road sections. The best time to visit is from May to October each year; before traveling, check weather and road conditions for safety.
Langcuo Lake is located southeast of Angren County in Shigatse City, Tibet, on the north bank of the Brahmaputra River. It is a plateau lake distributed along the national highway and is known as the "colorful lake like a peacock spreading its tail." Its uniqueness lies in the fact that the water often shifts between blue and green due to the refraction of light and minerals, creating a captivating "two-color lake" landscape. There is a small island at the heart of the lake, surrounded by snow-capped mountains, and prayer flags and mani stones are commonly seen on the steep shores, adding to its sacred atmosphere. Conveniently located next to the highway, visitors can stop anytime to admire the view, and access is completely free, making it a rare highlight on a self-driving tour of the Ali Circuit.
