Duoqing Cuo (also known as Duoqing Lake) is situated in Pali Town, Yadong County, Shigatse City, Tibet. It is a plateau lake on the northern slopes of the Himalayas, forming a magnificent "sacred mountain and holy lake" landscape with Mount Chomolhari. The elongated lake displays blue-green hues due to minerals and light refraction, appearing like sapphire when frozen in winter and reflecting snow-capped mountains and colorful forests in summer, earning its reputation as the "Auspicious Lake." Local Tibetans revere it as a sacred lake, with legends claiming it as the lover of Mount Chomolhari, often seen with prayer flags and ritual scarves along its shores as offerings. As the core area of the Duoqing Cuo National Wetland Park, it boasts pristine ecosystems inhabited by rare birds such as black-necked cranes and bar-headed geese, with grazing livestock dotting the lakeside pastures. Visitors can reach the observation deck via National Highway 562, with the best visiting period from May to October, requiring advance application for a border permit.
