To visit Yamdrok Lake (Yangzhuoyongcuo), advance online reservations are usually not required. The scenic area is open 24 hours, but tickets (approximately 60 CNY during peak season) may need to be purchased on-site at main viewpoints like the Gambala Pass. Located at an altitude of 4,441 meters, it is essential to take precautions against altitude sickness beforehand, and it is recommended to carry oxygen bottles, altitude sickness medication, and sufficient warm clothing (as it can be cold even in summer mornings and evenings). Most roads around the lake are mountainous, so driving an off-road vehicle with caution is advised, especially during the rainy season when landslides may occur. Please respect local religious beliefs; throwing debris into the lake or fishing is strictly prohibited, and climbing or stepping on prayer flags and mani stone piles is forbidden. Protect the environment by bringing garbage bags and disposing of waste promptly. The best time to visit is from May to October each year, with the most stunning scenery typically seen from September to October.

Yamdrok Lake (commonly called Yanghu) is located between Langkazi County and Gongga County in Shannan City, Tibet. As one of the three great sacred lakes of Tibet, its surface lies at an elevation of approximately 4,441 meters, covering an area of 638 square kilometers, and is acclaimed as "a heavenly paradise on earth." Its shoreline is intricately indented, resembling coral branches, and the lake water displays rich layers of blue and green hues under changing light, complemented by the distant snow-capped peaks of mountains such as Mount Noijin Kangsang. Not only is Yamdrok Lake the largest inland lake at the northern foot of the Himalayas, but it also hosts numerous islands and abundant ecological resources, serving both as the largest waterfowl habitat in southern Tibet and a high-altute pastoral area known as the "Tibetan Fish Reservoir." The local Tibetan people regard it as "the turquoise earring scattered by a goddess," embodying profound religious and cultural significance. Visitors can enjoy panoramic views from the high-altitude Gampa La Pass or explore cultural sites like the Rituo Monastery situated on a lake island. The optimal visiting period is from May to October each year, during which attention should be paid to acclimatizing to the altitude and preserving the ecological environment.
