No prior reservation is required to visit Rituo Monastery, but an environmental management fee of approximately 20 CNY per person must be paid. The monastery is situated on a peninsula at an altitude of around 4,500 meters above Yamdrok Lake. After driving along a gravel road to the lakeside parking lot, visitors must hike up a steep, primitive mountain path to reach the site. It is recommended to wear non-slip hiking boots and carry trekking poles. Due to the high altitude and strong winds, it is essential to take precautions against wind, cold, and sun exposure, and prepare sufficient oxygen bottles and altitude sickness medication. The interior of the temple is small and solemn, requiring quietness and adherence to religious etiquette. There are no dining facilities on the island, so visitors should bring their own water and food, and ensure all trash is taken away from the lake area. The best time to visit is from May to October each year. During the rainy season, road conditions may be affected, so checking the weather forecast before departure is advised.

Rituo Monastery is situated on a peninsula on the northern shore of Yamdrok Lake in Dongla Township, Gongga County, Shannan City, Tibet, at an altitude of approximately 4,500 meters. It is renowned as "the world's loneliest temple". This Sakya school Tibetan Buddhist temple was built in the late 14th century, boasting a history of nearly 700 years, and is famous for its unique cultural concept of "one lake, one temple, one monk, one lifetime". The temple's architecture integrates Han, Tibetan, and Indian cultural elements, with its yellow walls and red roof standing solemnly between the azure lake water and brown mountains, forming a breathtaking picture. From the top of the temple, visitors can enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view of Yamdrok Lake; the lake surface displays rich shades of blue and green under varying light conditions, surrounded by distant snow-capped mountains, offering a magnificent and pure scenery. Access requires self-driving or chartered vehicles, with some sections of the journey being unpaved gravel roads, for which an off-road vehicle is recommended. Visitors should be cautious of altitude sickness and take precautions against sun exposure and cold weather.
