The Qiao'er'ma Martyrs Cemetery is located at the intersection of the Duku Highway and Provincial Road S315 in Nilka County, Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang. It is a national revolutionary martyrs' cemetery established to commemorate the PLA soldiers who sacrificed their lives while building the Tianshan Duku Highway. The cemetery consists of a white marble monument, martyrs' tombs, and the Tianshan Duku Highway Memorial Hall. The front of the monument is inscribed with the words "Eternal glory to the comrades who gave their lives for the Duku Highway project," while the back bears the names of the martyrs and historical accounts of the road construction. The memorial hall displays artifacts, including construction tools and photographs, vividly depicting the soldiers' arduous efforts to carve a path through extreme and treacherous conditions. Since its completion, the cemetery has undergone multiple renovations and expansions, becoming an autonomous region-level martyrs' memorial facility and a patriotic education base, attracting a large number of visitors annually. Particularly touching is the story of veteran Chen Jungui, who voluntarily guarded the cemetery for over forty years. His deeds were adapted into the film "Waiting for the Mountain," ensuring that the "Tianshan Spirit" is passed down through generations.
