Lingguan Alley is a public historical street in downtown Urumqi that is open and free to access 24 hours a day, with no tickets or advance reservations required. Visitors are free to enter and explore. During your visit, please pay special attention to the following: while the alley itself is open all day, the operating hours of individual food vendors vary. It is recommended to visit during peak hours—lunch (12:00-15:00) and night market (19:00-23:00)—when the variety of food is greatest and the atmosphere is most lively. The area can be crowded, and the lanes are relatively narrow, so please keep your personal belongings such as mobile phones and wallets secure, and be mindful of pedestrians and non-motorized vehicles. When sampling the various ethnic specialty snacks, be mindful of food hygiene, choose items in moderation according to your digestive tolerance, and consider trying small portions first, especially for unique dishes like feizi (lung noodles) or yogurt rice dumplings. Always respect local ethnic customs and religious culture; politely ask for permission before photographing shops, food, or people, particularly in and around halal restaurants. The alley is integrated with residential areas, so please avoid loud noises, do not litter, and help maintain a clean environment. In summer, take sun protection measures, and in winter, dress warmly, as some snacks require queuing outdoors. Wearing comfortable walking shoes is advisable for exploring the cobblestone paths for extended periods. If you plan to visit the nearby International Grand Bazaar, allow sufficient walking time and pay attention to the surrounding road signs.

Lingguan Alley, located in Tianshan District, Urumqi, is a folk cultural street bearing over a century of historical lineage. Its name originates from the historical presence of the Tsarist Russian (later Soviet) consulate in Urumqi during the late Qing and early Republican periods. Stretching approximately 800 meters from Hetan North Road in the east to Xinhua North Road in the west, and adjacent to the International Grand Bazaar and Erdaoqiao commercial area, it has now transformed into an "open-air food museum" and urban cultural lounge that blends multiple ethnic influences. Flanking the alley are old buildings with yellow walls and gray eaves in Russian and Central Asian styles, interspersed with Uyghur shops featuring carved wooden doors, Hui halal restaurants, and Tatar dessert houses, forming a spatial pattern of "seven workshops and three lanes." Each branching alley holds culinary secrets passed down through generations: from the Ili milk tea shops fragrant at dawn, the bustling Kashgar baked bun shops at noon, to the Hotan feizi (lung noodle) stalls still steaming with activity late into the night, encapsulating the culinary wisdom of Xinjiang's thirteen indigenous ethnic groups. Most symbolic is the site of the Orthodox church built in 1907 within the alley, whose green dome contrasts charmingly with the copperware workshops of Uyghur artisans opposite, bearing witness to the living history of multicultural exchanges along the Silk Road. During municipal renovations in 2018, while preserving the original fabric, the street incorporated modern art into the traditional lanes through designs such as paving with Atlas silk-patterned tiles and installing relief walls featuring the scores of the Twelve Muqam. At dusk each day, as the aroma of baked naan intertwines with the strains of the dutar in the alleyways, visitors can not only savor intangible cultural heritage items like the "Marhaba Tatar pastries" for three yuan each but also listen under century-old elm trees as shopkeepers recount consulate stories in multiple languages. This living street, free of admission charges, with its unique charm of "exploring all of Xinjiang's flavors in one alley and traversing a century in ten steps," serves as a microscopic slice for observing Urumqi's transformation from a border trading post to an international metropolis.
