Its iconic artificial waterfall ("Nine Dragons Spouting Water") and lighting are typically activated during the summer months (approximately May to October) in the evening and at night (usually from 20:30 to 23:30). It is advisable to check the latest operating schedule before your visit to ensure optimal viewing. Please exercise caution around water areas and the waterfront platforms within the park, especially with children. Do not play in the water, climb railings, or sculptures. Be mindful of sun protection during summer, and consider bringing mosquito repellent as insects may be present at night.
Karamay Jiulongtan Park is situated at the upper reaches of the Karamay River (also known as the Chuan Cheng River) in Karamay City. It is a National AAA-level tourist attraction and an urban landmark built to commemorate the "Diverting Water to Aid Karamay" project. The park's core feature is the majestic artificial waterfall named "Nine Dragons Spouting Water." Approximately 100 meters wide, water gushes from nine giant dragon heads into a sedimentation basin below and then into the Karamay River. Within the park stands the approximately 10-meter-tall stainless steel thematic sculpture "Water Has Arrived," which abstractly commemorates the historic moment in 2000 when water from the Karamay River was first channeled into the city. The park skillfully integrates functions of water conservancy engineering, urban memory, and ecological recreation, featuring waterfront platforms, scenic walkways, and a lighting system along the shore. As night falls, the waterfall becomes particularly spectacular under colorful lights, vividly illustrating how this former Gobi oil city was revitalized by "water." It has become the preferred destination for residents and tourists to experience the ecological charm of Karamay's "water and greenery encircling the city."
