塔莎古道

塔莎古道是一條穿越崑崙山脈的未完全開發原始公路，全程無門票及商業預訂服務。能否通行完全取決於實時路況，最佳窗口期為每年5月至10月，冬季（11月至次年4月）因大雪、塌方、泥石流等風險極高，常處於封閉狀態。出發前必須在喀什辦理前往塔什庫爾干縣的《邊境管理區通行證》（邊防證）。全程約300公里多為非鋪裝或簡易路面，遍佈碎石、懸崖和塌方風險，​僅限高底盤四驅越野車通行，需由經驗豐富的司機駕駛。沿途無手機信號、無加油站、無餐館和商店，必須在塔縣或莎車縣加滿油箱，並備足高熱量食物、飲用水、應急藥品、氧氣瓶和保暖衣物。務必聽從庫祖檢查站等關鍵節點的管制指示，嚴禁強行通行，嚴禁單人單車前往，嚴禁夜間行車。請將垃圾全部帶走，保護脆弱的高原生態環境。建議行前向當地交管、文旅部門或專業領隊獲取最新、最準確的路況與安全信息。

The Tashkurgan-Shache Ancient Road is a partially developed, primitive highway traversing the Kunlun Mountains. There are no entrance tickets or commercial booking services for the entire route. Passage is entirely dependent on real-time road conditions, with the optimal window being from May to October each year. During winter (November to April), the risk of heavy snow, landslides, and mudslides is extremely high, and the road is often closed. ​It is mandatory​ to obtain a Border Area Entry Permit (Border Permit) for travel to Taxkorgan County in Kashgar before departure. The approximately 300-kilometer journey consists largely of unpaved or rudimentary roads, with hazards such as loose stones, cliffs, and landslide-prone areas. ​Only high-clearance 4x4 off-road vehicles are suitable, and they must be driven by experienced drivers. ​There is no mobile phone signal, no gas stations, no restaurants, and no shops​ along the way. It is essential to fill the fuel tank in Taxkorgan or Shache County and carry an ample supply of high-calorie food, drinking water, emergency medicine, oxygen canisters, and warm clothing. Strictly adhere to the instructions from key control points like the ​Kuzu Checkpoint; forced passage is prohibited, as is solo travel and nighttime driving. Take all trash with you to protect the fragile plateau ecosystem. It is advisable to obtain the latest and most accurate road condition and safety information from local traffic control, cultural and tourism departments, or professional guides before your journey.

The Tashkurgan-Shache Ancient Road is an epic and perilous highway that traverses the Kunlun Mountains in Xinjiang, connecting Taxkorgan County with Shache County over a distance of approximately 300 kilometers. It is revered as the "Route of Xuanzang's Return to the East." Winding through the deep gorges carved by the Taxkorgan and Yarkand Rivers, the ancient road passes by sheer cliffs, landslide-prone areas, and river crossings, showcasing the most primitive, rugged geological wonders and magnificent landscapes of the Pamir Plateau. Famous not only for the seas of century-old wild apricot blossoms that fill the river valleys in spring (late March to April), it also links remote and pristine Tajik villages scattered deep within the canyons, serving as a hidden corridor to experience Tajik ethnic culture and a "last peach blossom spring" way of life. Due to its extremely complex road conditions (predominantly unpaved), frequent natural hazards, and complete lack of communication signals, it has become one of China's premier overland adventure routes. It demands the highest level of vehicle capability (requiring robust 4x4 off-road vehicles), driving skill, and thorough pre-trip preparation (including a border permit and fully equipped supplies). It is suitable only for seasoned adventurers traveling in groups during the optimal season (May to October).
