Regarding reservations, as a cultural relics protection unit, the Qiemo Ancient City currently does not typically require advance online booking or ticket purchase. However, ​it is strongly recommended to verify the latest opening status and ticket prices by phone through local cultural and tourism departments, hotel front desks, or chartered vehicle guides before your trip, as opening hours may be adjusted temporarily due to archaeological research, cultural relic protection, or extreme weather conditions. If tickets are required, please purchase them on-site at the entrance and prepare cash. Regarding visit precautions, please pay special attention to the following: First, respect and protection. The Qiemo Ancient City is a precious historical site with numerous ancient artifacts such as pottery fragments scattered on the ground. ​It is strictly forbidden to pick up, move, step on, or damage any cultural relics or remains.​​ Please walk only along established paths during your visit and do not carve or climb on the site walls or any remains. Second, safety and protection. The site is located on the edge of the Gobi Desert, with an ​extremely dry climate, intense sunlight, and frequent sandstorms. Be sure to take full-body physical sun protection (long-sleeved clothing, headscarves, hats, sunglasses), apply high-SPF sunscreen, and carry ​an ample supply of drinking water far exceeding daily needs​ (recommended at least 2-3 liters per person) to prevent heatstroke and dehydration. Wear sand-proof hiking shoes that cover your ankles. Third, transportation and communication. The site is some distance from the county town and requires ​self-driving or hiring a chartered vehicle​ to reach. Road conditions along the way may be complex, with some sections being gravel roads. Ensure your vehicle is in good condition and has a full tank of fuel. ​Mobile phone signals are very weak or non-existent in this area. Be sure to download offline maps in advance and inform family or friends of your itinerary. Fourth, supplies and environmental protection. There are no commercial service facilities at or near the site. Please ​bring all necessary food, medication, and emergency supplies yourself. Be sure to take ​all trash​ (including fruit peels, tissues, etc.) ​away with you, practicing "leave no trace" visiting to protect the fragile desert ecosystem. Fifth, health and insurance. 且末古城是新疆巴音郭楞蒙古自治州且末縣境內的一處重要考古遺址，坐落於縣城西南的老車爾臣河岸臺地上。作為古西域三十六國之一的且末國都城，其歷史可追溯至春秋戰國時期，曾是絲綢之路南道的交通樞紐與屯田城邑，唐代玄奘在《大唐西域記》中記載此地已荒廢。遺址區地表呈雅丹地貌，散落大量陶片、鐵塊、煉鐵渣及房屋基址，曾出土古屍、毛織品、佉盧文木牍等文物，證實其為漢代至唐代的軍事與商貿重鎮。此地以“面積最大的古陶片散佈遺址”載入相關紀錄，並被列為新疆維吾爾自治區文物保護單位，如今雖淹沒於黃沙中，仍是探索西域文明與絲路歷史的神秘之地。

The Qiemo Ancient City is a significant archaeological site located in Qiemo County, Bayingolin Mongol Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang, situated on the terrace of the old Cheerchen Riverbank southwest of the county town. As the capital of the ancient Kingdom of Qiemo, one of the thirty-six kingdoms of the Western Regions, its history dates back to the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods. It once served as a transportation hub on the southern route of the Silk Road and a garrisoned farming settlement. The Tang Dynasty monk Xuanzang recorded in his Great Tang Records on the Western Regions that the site was already abandoned by his time. The site features yardang landforms with scattered pottery shards, iron fragments, smelting slag, and house foundations. Excavations have uncovered mummies, woolen textiles, Kharosthi wooden tablets, and other artifacts, confirming its role as a military and commercial hub from the Han to Tang dynasties. The site was listed in a relevant record as the "largest ancient pottery shard distribution site" and was designated as an Autonomous Region-level Cultural Relics Protection Unit in Xinjiang. Though now submerged in desert sands, it remains a mysterious destination for exploring the civilizations of the Western Regions and the history of the Silk Road.
