The Lop Nur Grand Canyon is located in Yuli County, Bayingolin Mongol Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang, at the foot of the Kuruktag Mountains. It is a deep canyon formed over hundreds of millions of years by wind erosion and water flow (ancient river channels). It is not a traditional river canyon but rather presents as a massive ​earth fissure, approximately 4.9 kilometers in length, with a maximum vertical drop of 120 meters. Its widest point is about 80 meters, while its narrowest is only wide enough for one person to pass through. The canyon walls on both sides are colorful and distinctly layered, clearly displaying sedimentary rock strata from different geological periods, making it a natural textbook for studying geological changes. Under intense wind erosion, a variety of yardang landforms have formed within the canyon, creating a mysterious and spectacular "underground palace" or "natural sculpture museum" of rugged, bizarre rocks.
