The Loulan Museum is located in Ruoqiang County, Bayingolin Mongol Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang. It is China's first thematic museum dedicated to Loulan culture and a National Second-Class Museum. Its architectural design is ingenious, incorporating elements of the ancient Milan stupa and the city walls of the Loulan ancient city. The exterior wall features a relief sculpture of a Loulan woman's head, which is highly symbolic. The museum houses over five thousand precious cultural relics unearthed from sites such as the ancient city of Loulan, the Milan ruins, and the Xiaohe Cemetery. Its core exhibits include the approximately 3,800-year-old mummy known as the "Loulan Beauty," the exquisitely crafted Han Dynasty brocade with the inscription "Wang Si Hai Gui Fu Shou Wei Guo Qing" (Hope the Four Seas are noble, wealthy, and long-lived for the national celebration), and a large number of Kharosthi wooden slips, Chinese bamboo slips, wool textiles, and wooden artifacts. These relics systematically showcase the oasis civilization of ancient Loulan, the prosperity of the Silk Road, and the historical panorama of cultural convergence in the region. Utilizing modern exhibition techniques such as scene reconstructions and multimedia interactions, the museum vividly recreates the historical landscape and daily life of the ancient Loulan Kingdom. It serves as a vital window for researching Loulan and exploring the history and culture of the Silk Road, lifting the mysterious veil on this "Pompeii of the Desert" for visitors.
