Before visiting the Bayanbulak Swan Lake Scenic Area, you need to understand the following booking guidelines and important notices. Regarding reservations, the scenic area implements a real-name ticketing system. You can purchase e-tickets in advance through the scenic area's official ticketing platform or authorized third-party travel websites. You must bring the original, valid photo ID (such as an ID card or passport) that matches the booking information for verification at the entrance. As the scenic area includes a National Nature Reserve, daily visitor numbers may be limited based on ecological carrying capacity, especially during the peak tourist season from June to August and the National Day Golden Week. It is strongly recommended to book tickets 1-3 days in advance to ensure smooth entry. If you plan to stay overnight in Bayanbulak Town near the scenic area, especially in summer, be sure to book your hotel or Mongolian yurt in advance and confirm their heating, sanitary, and hot water supply conditions. Regarding important notices for your visit, please pay close attention to the following: First, Transportation and Entry. After entering the scenic area, private vehicles are not allowed into the core protected zone. You must transfer to the scenic area's eco-friendly shuttle buses at the Tourist Center. The bus journey is long with fixed stops along the route. Please plan your sightseeing and return time according to the departure schedule and remember the last bus time (usually around 18:00-19:00, possibly later in summer) to avoid missing it. Second, Climate and Attire. The Swan Lake scenic area has an average altitude of about 2,400 meters and features a high-cold grassland climate with rapidly changing weather and extreme day-night temperature differences. Even in summer, prepare sunscreen, sunglasses, and a sun hat during the day to cope with intense UV radiation. In the evening and early morning, you must wear professional cold-weather clothing such as down jackets, fleece, and windproof jackets, and it is recommended to wear waterproof, non-slip hiking shoes. Third, Safety and Health. Always stay within the designated wooden boardwalks, viewing platforms, and safe areas of the scenic area. It is strictly forbidden to climb over railings, step into marshy wetlands, or approach the edges of water bodies to avoid the risk of getting stuck in mud or drowning. Pay attention to your footing while moving and avoid running on the boardwalks. At high altitudes, walk slowly, avoid strenuous exercise, and guard against altitude sickness. Fourth, Ecology and Conservation. Bayanbulak Swan Lake is an important swan breeding ground in China. Please strictly adhere to the reserve regulations: Do not make loud noises, chase, feed, or disturb the swans and other wildlife in any way. Do not discard any litter into the lakes, rivers, or grasslands; please take all waste out of the scenic area. Do not pick flowers or plants, and do not damage the meadows. Fifth, Photography and Sightseeing. When photographing swans, use a telephoto lens and maintain a safe observation distance (recommended at least 50 meters). Do not use flash. If you wish to photograph the famous "Nine Bends and Eighteen Turns" sunset, arrive early at the Basilik Viewing Platform (the final shuttle bus stop) to secure a good spot. Temperatures drop sharply around sunset, so ensure you are well-protected against the cold. Sixth, Other. Dining options within the scenic area are limited and can be expensive. It is advisable to bring sufficient drinking water and high-calorie snacks. Mobile phone signals may be unstable; inform family or friends of your itinerary in advance. Respect the local Mongolian East-Return culture and customs. Do not take close-up photos of herders, their livestock, or their dwellings without permission.

The Bayanbulak Swan Lake is situated in the grasslands of Hejing County, Xinjiang, and is both China's only swan nature reserve and the largest swan habitat in Asia. Composed of numerous winding lakes and marshes across a vast area, it sits at an average altitude of two thousand four hundred meters. The terrain is flat, the water and grass are abundant, and it is surrounded by continuous snow-capped mountains. The meandering Kaidu River forms the famous "Nine Bends and Eighteen Turns" landscape, and it's common to witness the spectacle of multiple suns reflected on the river's surface at sunset. Every spring, thousands of whooper swans, tundra swans, and mute swans migrate over towering mountains and ranges from India, Myanmar, and even the Mediterranean coast to breed here, not departing south with their young until after September. The local Mongolian herders regard swans as "birds of fortune" and have protected them for generations, fostering a unique cultural landscape of harmonious coexistence between humans and nature. The scenic area has bird-watching platforms where visitors can observe swans and other rare birds up close. The best time to visit is from May to October each year. Additionally, the Nadam Festival held in summer and the profound cultural heritage of the East Return further enrich the grassland's cultural charm.
