Zhayebasi Temple, one of the four great hermitages of Tibet, is perched on the cliffs of the Lhariningbu Mountain in Dazi District, Lhasa, at an altitude of approximately 4,360 meters. This Nyingma school temple was founded in the 7th century during the reign of King Songtsen Gampo for his consort, Princess Mansa Ruchen, boasting a history of about 1,500 years. Its most distinctive feature is the integration of cave and temple structures seamlessly built into the mountain crevices, preserving historical sites including the meditation caves of Songtsen Gampo and Padmasambhava. Surrounded by striking natural scenery, its profound spiritual significance is captured in the local Tibetan proverb: "The soul of Tibet is in Lhasa, and the soul of Lhasa is in Yerpa". The temple is open daily from 9:00 to 17:30, with direct bus services available from Barkhor Square in Lhasa.
