Zhangye Zhenyuan Tower (also known as Zhangye Drum Tower or Jingyuan Tower) is located in the center of Ganzhou District, Zhangye City, Gansu Province. As the largest surviving drum tower in the Hexi Corridor, it was first built in 1507 during the Ming Dynasty. The tower features a three-story wooden pagoda structure with upturned eaves and intricately carved beams, reflecting typical Ming architectural style. Its base is clad in blue bricks, and four arched passageways form a cross, connecting the main streets to the east, west, south, and north. The gate inscriptions include "旭升" (Rising Sun), "宾晟" (Welcoming Honor), "迎薰" (Greeting Warmth), and "镇远" (Pacifying the Distance). The tower displays inscribed boards such as "Golden City Spring Rain" and "Jade Pass Dawn Moon," and its top floor was once used for timekeeping by striking a bell. A Tang Dynasty alloy bell is preserved in the southeast corner. As a landmark of ancient Ganzhou, the tower served military, timekeeping, and cultural symbolic purposes. It was designated as a National Key Cultural Relic Protection Unit in 2006, embodying Zhangye's rich history as a vital hub on the Silk Road
