Zhuanglang Terraces, located in Zhuanglang County, Pingliang City, Gansu Province, are a million-acre system of level terraces painstakingly built over 34 years (1964–1998) by local people on the Loess Plateau, earning the title "Kingdom of Terraces." Its core feature is an ecological management model described as "planting seabuckthorn on the mountaintops, wrapping terraces around the slopes, locking the edges with grass, and building dams at the bottom," which successfully transformed former "three-runoff fields" (losing water, soil, and fertilizer) into "three-conservation fields" (conserving water, soil, and fertilizer), recognized internationally as a model soil and water conservation project. The terraces wind layered along the mountain contours, offering distinct seasonal scenery—spring rapeseed flowers like golden ribbons, summer green seedlings like emerald waves, autumn harvests like golden towers, and winter snow-covered terraces like jade steps—blending human ingenuity with natural grandeur and showcasing ecological wisdom in harmony with nature.
