Departure times are concentrated in the morning, and the number of sailings is limited, so arriving early to purchase tickets is recommended. If planning to visit the ​Liujiaxia Hydropower Station, advance reservations with the managing authority are usually required (some travel agencies can assist). All passengers ​must properly wear life jackets throughout the boat journey. The reservoir area is expansive, with intense sunlight and potentially strong winds and waves. High-level sun protection (sunscreen, sunglasses, hat) is essential, and adding a windproof jacket is advised. The resort involves walking and climbing stairs (such as the plank walks at Bingling Temple), so wear anti-slip, comfortable hiking or sports shoes. When visiting the Bingling Temple Grottoes, ​photography, videography, and touching the murals or statues inside the caves are strictly prohibited. It originated from the construction of the Liujiaxia Hydropower Station, New China's first mega-sized hydroelectric station with a capacity of over one million kilowatts. Its core feature is the magnificent "high gorges and flat lake" landscape formed after the dam impounded the river. Centered around the Three Gorges of the Yellow River (Bingling Gorge, Liujia Gorge, and Yangwo Gorge), the resort encompasses a water area of more than 130 square kilometers, where clear, azure waters combine with surrounding Danxia peaks, red cliffs, and secluded valleys to create a rare landscape painting in Northwest China. The area possesses profound cultural heritage, including the UNESCO World Heritage Site Bingling Temple Grottoes (whose excavation predates the Mogao Caves), the Liujiaxia Hydropower Station—a testament to China's hydroelectric achievements (designated as a National Industrial Tourism Demonstration Site)—and the Liujiaxia Dinosaur National Geopark, which preserves large-scale Cretaceous dinosaur footprint fossils.
