The Jinchang Mars Base (officially named "Mars Base 1") is situated in the deep Gobi Desert of Jinchuan District, Jinchang City, Gansu Province. Its unique red rock Gobi landscape bears a striking resemblance to the Martian environment, making it China's first immersive Mars-themed real-world experience base. Developed under the guidance of the China Astronaut Research and Training Center and the China Aerospace Science and Technology International Exchange Center, the base focuses on simulating Martian survival scenarios. It features thematic sections, including a Space Agency and an Extraterrestrial Survival Base, and offers immersive activities such as weightlessness experiences and multi-axis rotation training. Visitors can role-play as "Martian residents" completing tasks, experience astronaut training procedures inside simulation capsules, and observe how closed ecosystems like hydroponic plants support life beyond Earth. Since its opening, the base has been recognized as a National AAAA-Level Tourist Attraction and a Gansu Provincial Science Education Base, establishing itself as a comprehensive destination integrating aerospace science popularization, experiential learning, and sci-fi tourism.
