The Dunhuang Shazhou Night Market is located at the intersection of Yangguan Middle Road and Xiyu Road in the center of Dunhuang City. It is the largest and longest-standing nighttime cultural and culinary gathering spot in Dunhuang. Originating in the 1980s, its core appeal lies in seamlessly blending Silk Road ambiance, Dunhuang cultural motifs, and bustling local life. The market is well-organized into three main zones: food and snacks, handicrafts, and dried local specialties. The food area concentrates the most representative flavors of northwestern China, such as donkey meat served with yellow noodles, stewed lamb with flatbread, red willow skewers,浆水面 (a sour noodle soup), and apricot kernel drink.
