The Eboliang Yardang Scenic Area currently implements unified entry management. Visitors must purchase tickets on-site at the designated entrance (along the Mars Highway) and obtain entry permits; online reservations are not available yet. During your visit, please strictly adhere to the regulations: It is mandatory to rent the GPS tracker provided by the scenic area and drive strictly along the designated tracks. Unauthorized entry into closed areas is strictly prohibited. For safety reasons, only four-wheel-drive off-road vehicles are permitted to enter; single-vehicle entry is prohibited, and traveling in groups is recommended. The scenic area is a primitive, uninhabited zone with no mobile phone signal or supply points throughout. Be sure to prepare sufficient fuel, food, drinking water, emergency supplies, and a satellite phone in advance. The climate is extreme, with significant day-night temperature fluctuations and frequent strong winds and sandstorms. Bring windproof and cold-weather clothing. Please help protect the fragile geological environment by not driving over Yardang formations and taking all trash with you.
The Eboliang Yardang is located in Mangya City, in the northwestern part of the Qaidam Basin in Qinghai Province, China. It is one of the largest and most typical Yardang landform clusters discovered in the country. This primitive and desolate landscape was shaped by tens of millions of years of wind erosion, densely covered with various Yardang formations such as turtleback, trough-ridge, and beacon types. Due to the high iron content in the surface soil, the area exhibits a distinct reddish-brown hue. With almost no vegetation, a maze-like terrain, and the constant howl of strong winds, the area evokes a powerful sense of an alien wasteland, earning it the title of "the place on Earth most resembling Mars." Today, it has been designated as a provincial geological park with a unified management system and designated touring routes. Visitors can drive deep into this vast "forest" of Yardangs to experience both breathtaking geological wonders and a profound sense of cosmic solitude, making it one of the ultimate destinations for adventure photography and scientific exploration.
