當金山地區屬於高海拔、未開發的自然山區，核心通行需求是翻越當金山口（G215國道）。​無需預訂，但嚴禁擅自駛離主路進入荒野。山口海拔約3800公尺，氣候極端，常年大風，冬季常積雪結冰，務必提前查詢天氣與路況，避免夜間、雨雪、沙塵天氣通行。車輛需備足燃油、防滑鏈與應急物資，緩慢通過連續彎道。全程無補給點與手機信號，需結伴而行並告知他人行程。請勿隨意停車逗留，保護脆弱的高原生態。

The Dangjin Mountain area is a high-altitude, undeveloped natural mountain region, with the primary purpose of travel being to cross the Dangjin Pass (via National Highway G215). ​No booking is required, but ​it is strictly forbidden to leave the main road and venture into the wilderness. The pass is approximately 3,800 meters above sea level, with extreme weather, strong winds year-round, and frequent snow and ice in winter. It is essential to check weather and road conditions in advance and avoid traveling at night or during rain, snow, or sandstorms. Vehicles must carry sufficient fuel, snow chains, and emergency supplies, and navigate the continuous bends slowly. There are no supply points or mobile phone signals along the entire route. Travel with companions and inform others of your itinerary. Do not stop or linger unnecessarily, and help protect the fragile plateau ecosystem.

當金山是祁連山與阿爾金山的自然地理連接段，呈東西走向橫亘於甘肅、青海、新疆三省交界處，主峰海拔約4500公尺，其核心標誌是海拔約3800公尺的當金山口——這裏不僅是G215國道跨越天險、連通甘肅敦煌與青海柴達木盆地的戰略咽喉，更是青藏高原北緣典型的乾旱剝蝕山地，以陡峻山勢、深切溝谷和終年大風為特徵，展現了荒涼與壯美並存的高原屏障景觀。

Dangjin Mountain is a natural geographical link between the Qilian Mountains and the Altun Mountains, stretching east-west across the border of Gansu, Qinghai, and Xinjiang. Its main peak rises approximately 4,500 meters above sea level, with its iconic feature being the Dangjin Pass at around 3,800 meters—a strategic gateway where National Highway G215 traverses this formidable barrier, connecting Dunhuang in Gansu with the Qaidam Basin in Qinghai. As a typical arid, eroded mountain range on the northern edge of the Tibetan Plateau, it is characterized by steep slopes, deeply cut valleys, and perennial strong winds, presenting a desolate yet majestic plateau landscape that serves as a natural barrier.
