The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau Wildlife Zoo (Xining Wildlife Zoo) requires real-name reservation and ticket purchase through official platforms or partner travel apps. It is recommended to book one day in advance to secure entry, as visitor limits may apply during holidays. During your visit, please note: the zoo features mountainous terrain with long walking routes, so wear comfortable sports shoes and prepare for sun protection and temperature changes; do not feed, startle animals, or use flash photography, especially in high-altitude rare animal exhibition areas where quietness is required; the free-roaming predator area must be visited via sightseeing vehicles—do not exit the vehicle or open windows; pets, drones, and hazardous items are prohibited inside the zoo; follow visiting rules and do not climb barriers or enter restricted areas; if accompanied by children or elderly visitors, ensure supervision and plan rest stops appropriately; as a national wildlife conservation base, please help protect the ecological environment by disposing of trash in designated areas.
The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau Wildlife Park (also known as Xining Wildlife Park) is located at the foot of the Western Mountains in Chengxi District, Xining City, Qinghai Province. It is China's only national-level wildlife park dedicated to showcasing endemic wildlife of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, integrating species conservation, breeding research, science education, and ecotourism. Utilizing the mountainous natural ecosystem, the park simulates native habitats such as alpine meadows, deserts, and rocky environments, featuring nearly a hundred rare plateau species including snow leopards, Pallas's cats, Chinese mountain cats, Tibetan antelopes, Przewalski's gazelles, and black-necked cranes. Its snow leopard breeding population ranks among the largest in zoos worldwide, and it hosts the only captive-bred Chinese mountain cat on public display globally. As a National AAAA-level Tourist Attraction and a National Wildlife Conservation Science Education Base, the park vividly demonstrates the unique value of the plateau's biodiversity through eco-friendly exhibit design, wildlife rescue and release programs, and public science outreach, serving as a vital window for observing "plateau spirits" up close and understanding plateau ecological conservation.
