Mengda Tianchi is located within a national-level nature reserve. Tickets (including shuttle bus tickets) must be purchased on-site with real-name registration, and online reservations are currently unavailable. Please note during your visit: hiking is required to reach the lake (about 1 hour on boardwalks), so wear comfortable, non-slip shoes; the altitude is approximately 2,500 meters with significant daily temperature fluctuations—prepare cold-weather and sun protection gear; open flames, picking plants, disturbing wildlife, and polluting the lake are strictly prohibited in the reserve; take all trash with you; finally, adhere to the scenic area’s opening hours—peak season (May-October) 08:00-18:00, with shorter hours in the off-season.

Mengda Tianchi is situated in the Mengda National Nature Reserve of Xunhua Salar Autonomous County, Haidong City, Qinghai Province. It is an ancient glacial barrier lake at an elevation of approximately 2,504 meters, renowned as the "Xishuangbanna of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau." The lake's water is clear and emerald green, surrounded by primeval forests and Danxia landforms. It is home to over 500 plant species, including Huashan pine and Bashan fir, as well as various wild animals, making it exceptionally rich in ecological resources. The scenic area integrates natural landscapes such as alpine lakes, forest canyons, waterfalls, and streams, alongside cultural relics like Tibetan Buddhist meditation caves. It is a high-altitude hidden gem that combines ecological sightseeing, hiking adventures, and nature education.
