Jiaju Tibetan Village does not require advance reservations; tickets can be purchased on-site or through official partner platforms. Key considerations: the village features mostly steep slate paths, so wearing comfortable, non-slip shoes is advisable; respect the local Gyarong Tibetan customs—do not enter residences or photograph people without permission; some viewing platforms and paths are narrow, requiring attention to safety; drone photography is permitted within the scenic area but must comply with regulations and avoid disturbing residents; visiting in March during spring is recommended to see the pear blossoms in full bloom.
The Jiaju Tibetan Village is located in Danba County, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, approximately 8 kilometers from the county town at an altitude between 1,800 and 2,000 meters. It is Danba's most distinctive tourist attraction. Covering an area of about 5 square kilometers, 149 white Tibetan-style houses are scattered across tree-covered mountain slopes, forming a magnificent picture of "a hundred households" and earning it the title of "Fairy Tale World in Tibet" and ranking first among "China's Six Most Beautiful Ancient Villages and Towns". These Gyarong Tibetan dwellings are mostly stone-and-wood structures, typically three to four stories high, with exteriors painted in red, white, and black, adorned with religious patterns such as the sun, moon, and stars. The top floors feature small white pagodas and prayer flags, perfectly reflecting the Tibetan architectural wisdom of harmonious coexistence with nature. The village also preserves historical sites like ancient watchtower clusters and the former site of the Red Fifth Army's Political Department. In September 2016, Jiaju Tibetan Village was officially approved as a National AAAA-level tourist attraction. It is open 24 hours a day, with an admission ticket costing 50 yuan per person.
