Yulong Latso (also known as New Road Lake) is a high-altitude glacial erosion lake situated on the eastern foothills of Mount Chola in Dege County, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, at an elevation of approximately 4,040 meters. Its Tibetan name means "Heartfelt Sacred Lake," derived from the legend of King Gesar's consort, Zhumu, who was captivated by its beauty. Covering about 6.2 square kilometers, the lake is fed by glacial meltwater from Mount Chola, displaying a distinctive milky green or azure blue hue. Surrounded by pristine spruce forests, meadows, and snow-capped peaks, it is hailed as the "Jade Pool of the Western Heaven". Designated as a provincial nature reserve and a national AAAA-level tourist attraction, it hosts rare animals such as white-lipped deer and snow leopards, alongside preserved Gesar cultural stone carvings. The scenic area is open all day (recommended visiting hours: 8:30–17:00) and can be explored in combination with nearby sites like the Dege Printing Monastery and Mount Chola for an in-depth experience of plateau ecology and Tibetan culture.
