Cuopu Monastery does not require reservations, but due to its remote location deep within the Cuopu Valley scenic area, entry and exit must follow the area's management hours (typically 8:00-18:00). During your visit, strictly observe temple etiquette: maintain absolute silence and dress modestly; photography of Buddha statues and monks inside halls is strictly prohibited; do not call out loudly or feed wild animals (such as marmots); given the high altitude and complex road conditions (unpaved surfaces), it is recommended to use an off-road vehicle and prepare altitude sickness medication as well as windproof and warm clothing.

Cuopu Monastery is a significant monastery of the Nyingma sect (Red School) of Tibetan Buddhism, fully named "Auspicious Cuopu Dharma Teaching and Practice Prosperous Abode". It is located within the Cuopu Valley Nature Reserve in Batang County, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, nestled against the 5,833-meter-high Zhajinjiabo Sacred Mountain and facing the emerald Cuopu Lake at an elevation of approximately 4,180 meters. Founded in the 14th century (around 1335), its current structures exemplify traditional Tibetan timber-earth architecture. The main assembly hall houses precious cultural relics, including 14th-century handwritten Kangyur scriptures, Ming-dynasty gilded Buddha statues, and murals depicting the life of Padmasambhava. More than a Nyingma practice center (with around 23 resident monks currently), Cuopu Monastery is renowned for its "harmonious coexistence of humans and nature": monks regularly feed wild animals, leading to visits by herds of blue sheep, and wooden water troughs are placed along the prayer wheel path for wildlife, creating a unique religious-ecological landscape. The monastery holds annual rituals and mountain-lake worship ceremonies in the sixth month of the Tibetan calendar. The surrounding Cuopu Valley scenic area is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction, open all day (daytime visits are recommended), and no entrance ticket is required for the monastery itself.
