Maoya Grassland (also known as Maoya Prairie) is located near Heni Township, west of Litang County in Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. It is the largest intermountain grassland in the Shaluli Mountains and is recognized as "one of China's six most beautiful grasslands". Spanning approximately 251 square kilometers, this alpine grassland is surrounded by mountains and traversed by the Wuliang River, which forms dozens of tributaries and marsh wetlands. National Highway G318 runs along its northern section for dozens of kilometers. In summer, the grassland is carpeted with lush green grass and wildflowers; in autumn, the pastures turn golden; and in winter, it is covered in snow, offering distinct seasonal landscapes. The area is home to grazing cattle and sheep, as well as wildlife such as red-crowned cranes and otters. At dawn, the smoke from herders' tents blends with the morning mist, creating a dreamlike scene. Currently open to the public free of charge year-round, it is a natural wonder that blends plateau ecology with nomadic culture.
