Renkang Ancient House, also known as the "Birthplace of the Seventh Dalai Lama," is located in Chema Village, Gaocheng Town, Litang County, in the Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Sichuan Province. This pure Tibetan-style timber-earth structure was built in the mid-16th century and has a history of over 400 years. As an important sacred site in Tibetan Buddhism, it is renowned for being the birthplace of thirteen highly respected living Buddhas. The seven most influential among them, including the Seventh Dalai Lama Kelzang Gyatso, are symbolized by seven sandalwood balls (representing the vajra, a ritual object in Esoteric Buddhism) on the lintel, which signify auspiciousness. Legends say that during the birth of the Seventh Dalai Lama, miraculous signs appeared, such as "lion's milk flowing" and "water turning into milk," and Tibetan scriptures and Esoteric Buddhist ritual symbols naturally emerged on the stone pillars inside, which remain visible today. The house preserves many precious cultural relics, including a blue-glazed double-dragon vase bestowed by Emperor Qianlong, Thangka paintings from the Ming Dynasty, and a self-sculpture made by the Seventh Dalai Lama. It was listed as a Sichuan Provincial Cultural Heritage Protection Unit in 2007. Today, it is not only a "Lotus Blessed Land" in the hearts of pilgrims but also a cultural symbol encapsulated in the saying, "If you pass through Litang to pilgrimage to Tibet without visiting Renkang Ancient House, you have not truly reached Tibet".
