Key considerations include: The average altitude is around 3,300 meters, so precautions against altitude sickness are necessary; temperatures vary drastically between day and night, requiring adequate windproof and warm clothing regardless of the season; always politely ask for permission before photographing local residents, dwellings, or religious sites; when driving, do not enter or drive over private pastures; it is recommended to treat Xinduqiao as a rest stop on the Western Sichuan circuit and plan your stay accordingly.

Xinduqiao is a small town in the western part of Kangding City, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, situated on a plateau at an altitude of approximately 3,300 meters. As a vital transportation hub on National Highway 318 and the junction point of the north and south Sichuan-Tibet routes, it is renowned as the "Paradise for Photographers". Rather than a traditional enclosed scenic area, it is an open landscape corridor stretching about 10 kilometers, whose charm lies in the interplay of light and shadow across its vast grasslands, meandering streams, golden autumn foliage, and scattered Tibetan villages with grazing livestock, together forming a picturesque idyllic retreat. On clear days, one can admire the stunning spectacle of the sun illuminating the snow-capped peaks of Gongga Mountain, known as the "King of Sichuan Mountains". The area around the town also features cultural sites like the Juli Monastery, offering experiences of rich Tibetan culture. Xinduqiao is open 24 hours a day, requires no entrance fee, and is an essential stop for photography and rest on self-driving tours along the Western Sichuan loop.
